First year teacher Callee Kaufman focuses lessons for hands on learning in her Nutrition and Wellness class. During the first semester, students will focus solely on nutrition and fitness. Students will be exercising once a week by doing activities such as yoga, kickboxing, and aerobics. For the nutrition portion, food labs will be done once every two weeks.

During the second semester, the focus of the class will be culinary essentials. Students will learn different sanitation and safety procedures. Instead of cooking common foods, they will explore cooking with different foods from different cultures. Food labs will be done two to three times a week. At then at the end of the year, students will make their own bakery items and will be able to sell what they make to other students.

“I am looking forward to learning about new foods and getting to create my own bakery items,” Madison Wilson, so., said.
